I really want one of these
We live in Manhattan. I hadn’t owned a vehicle for quite a long time after moving here. Not months. Many years. atuI very much did, and do, enjoy not needing a vehicle for daily life. It’s another financial and physical liability. Never mind the resources involved in building and maintaining all of those vehicles just for people to get from point a to b. If you’ve never lived in a place where a car is more of a hassle than a necessity, not owning one is kind of nice.
But, I did miss having a car. We bailed during Covid. We are lucky that we could do that. It seemed like an obvious choice. Everybody is supposed to avoid other people unless absolutely necessary. Our rent was raised regardless. Well, OK. Time to head out.
I found a used Nissan Rogue online. Sexy? No. Sporty? Ha ha. Still, I got the higher trim with the good speakers and marginally functional driver assist. And we loved it. We moved back to the city in 2021, and only let go of the car earlier this year. Is Manhattan parking expensive? OMG. Did we wind up leaving it mostly parked? Yeah, of course. We knew that would happen, but still.
So, I don’t need a car. We’re not looking to buy a car. But this thing. I love it.
